MOFs – metal-organic frameworks
are cristals with high porosity
and large surfaces – imagine a sponge.

What are MOFs?

Two grams of MOF can have up to 8000 m² of internal surface equivalent to a large football field.

Due to these properties MOFs have great potential for gas storage, evaporation, adsorption and filtering applications.

Depending on the combination of metal and organic materials – linkers – the pore sizes can be tuned to different uses, tuned MOFs can have very specific properties.

MOFs can be impregnated with metal ions in order to broaden their range of application. Through “click” technology and special shaping MOFs can be functionalized to filter or attract targeted substances and release them under specified conditions.

MOFapps AS are concentrating on materials which are mechanically robust and have thermal stability to meet the requirements for industrial and commercial applications.

UiO-66

UiO-66 and Zirkonium based Family

UiO family of MOFs are the most cited MOF ma-terials in current relevant research publications. In its variations we see outstanding potential in gas adsorption  and heating / chilling applications UiO 66 has outstanding stability up to 400°C in air, exceptional mechanical stability for compression and dense packing as well as a unique stability in water and humid environments.

These properties make UiO 66 and the family of Zirconium based MOFs ideal for technically robust applications.

MOFapps are the exclusive partner to the University of Oslo for commercial applications of UiO Mofs and the related synthesis processes. Our specialists are happy to recommend the right UiO material for youre use case.
